Charades

Free online charades game & random word generator

What is this?

A charades word generator you can play straight from the browser — no app, no sign-up. Pick a deck and the game deals random words, keeps time and counts the score for your party.

Two ways to play charades online

Act It Out is classic charades: the game shows the actor a word, they mime it silently, everyone else guesses before the timer runs out. Forehead flips it around: hold the phone on your forehead so friends can see the word, they give clues, and you tilt the phone down when you get it or up to pass.

Every Act It Out deck is also available as a free printable PDF — cut out the cards and play offline, no phone needed.

Charades FAQ

How do you play charades?

One player acts out a word without speaking while everyone else guesses. In this online version you tick one or more decks, hit Start, and the word generator deals random words while the timer runs and the score is counted automatically.

How many players do you need?

Three or more players work best. In bigger groups, split into two teams and take turns acting — the team with the most correct guesses when the timer ends wins.

What are the rules of charades?

The actor may not speak, mouth words, spell, or point at real objects — gestures only. Everyone else can shout guesses freely, and the round moves on after a correct guess or a skip.

How long is a round of charades?

You choose: 60, 90 or 120 seconds per round. 60 seconds keeps big parties fast; longer rounds suit smaller groups or harder decks.

Can you play charades without a phone?

Yes — every acting deck is also a free printable PDF: print the sheets, cut out the cards and draw them from a bowl.
